Connecting Your Scale

Only have one scale in pairing mode at a time to avoid connecting to the wrong scale

  1. Power the scale on by pressing the Power Button for 0.5 seconds. The scale will enter pairing mode automatically.
  2. Log into the Vish app and tap on the Scale tab
  3. You will see No Bluetooth Device Connected
  4. Select your scale from the list of available devices
  5. Once connected, the LED display will disappear from your scale and you will either see an amber light or two links connected near the power button of the scale
  6. You are now connected to the Acaia scale. You can now proceed to mix in Vish.

The scales should be running on battery all the time, and recharge every few days at night when the salon closes. This is the most effective way to extend the battery life. 

We do not recommend using the scale while plugged in. The cable will interfere with the weighing pan and cause instability.

Scale Best Practices

For best results, ensure the scale best practices are followed.

Every night:

  • After ensuring you are logged out of Vish, double-click the home button on the iPad and swipe up on the Vish app to close out completely
  • Once the numbers appear on the scale display, double-tap the power button on the scale to shut it off. You will hear two beeps to indicate it's turned off
  • Plug in the scale for the night

Every morning:

  • Power up iPad 1
  • Unplug and power on scale 1 by holding the power button until numbers appear on the display
  • Log into Vish on the iPad and ensure iPad 1 and scale 1 connect. The display numbers will disappear when they are connected properly

Things to Note:

  • Ensure nothing is touching the sides of the scale at any time and the area around it is clear by at least 2 inches
  • Make sure to wipe off the iPad screen and scale regularly
  • Keep the scale on a level and firm surface
  • There are no fans or vents blowing air on or near the scale.

Troubleshooting: Scale Issues

Switching from Internal Battery to External Power Source

If you are switching from internal battery to external power source, your scale will turn off and disconnect. This is normal, turn your scale on as usual and connect as described above. However, it is not recommended to use the scale while connected to an external power source as it can lead to erratic behavior, and should only be done when necessary (i.e. the scale's internal battery has been depleted)

Scale says "Update"

If your scale says "Update", simply plug the scale into the charger and then unplug. If the scale is already plugged in, unplug the scale, plug it in, then unplug again.

Things to note: If you used the Acaia Updater App to update your scale and it will no longer connect, this means you have wiped the Vish firmware off your scale. To resolve this, please follow the steps below:

  1. Make sure the Bluetooth of both device and scale is turned on and all apps are closed on your device.
  2. Download the Acaia Updater app and click the "i" icon in the upper right corner of the homepage to enter the “Information page”.
  3. Click “Acaia Technology”.
  4. Enter service code “20229” (Please note that this code is temporary for service purposes.)
  5. After inputting the correct service code, App will show “Proprietary Firmware Access Granted”
  6. Touch “back” in the top left corner to go back to the homepage again.
  7. To find the correct Pearl model, look for the SN number on the bottom of the scale. Tap on the model of the scale you have.
  8. Look to see if there is only Vish firmware 1.1.007 in Pearl 2021 that can be updated. Tap on “Next” to push the Vish firmware to the scale.
  9. Tap on connect and follow the steps on the app screen. Note: The Tare button is the T on the right hand side of the scale.
  10. After updating the firmware, ensuring scale is off, please long press on the power button until you see "set". Tap on the "T" button until you find rESEt.d to reset.
  11. Long press on the T and tap until you see "Yes". Long press again to select "Yes" and then power on.
  12. You should now be able to connect your scale to the Vish app.

Scale won't Turn On

Check to see if your scale just needs to be charged and if it is charging properly. When plugging a scale into charge, a light will appear. If this charging light does not appear, try swapping the micro-USB or USB-C cable for another, or try using an alternate power adapter.

Scale has power but is not connecting to Vish

If you have power to your scale but are unable to connect to Vish, first try to power-cycle the scale.

  1. Quick double-tap on the Power button on the scale to turn off the power
  2. Turn the scale on by pressing the Power Button for 0.5 seconds
  3. Reconnect to Vish as described in the steps above

Power down the scale, leave plugged in overnight. Sometimes the internal battery will need some time to build a charge. Double-tap the scale to turn off the power. Leave the unit off and plugged in overnight to completely charge the internal battery.

Another common issue with see with scale connection is that the scale is paired but not connected.

  1. Log into the Vish app and tap on Scale
  2. Tap Unpair next to your scale
  3. Wait for scale to connect again

Additional Troubleshooting: Scale Issues

Like any device, sometimes your scale or iPad may act erratically and needs to be reset to resume operating as expected. Try these additional steps before you connect your scale._

Scale does not appear in list of available devices

After initiating a Scan, if your device does not appear in the list of Available Devices, it may need to be power-cycled to resume normal operation. Turn the device off and then power it on again as described above

Toggle the Bluetooth connection

Apple iOS

To turn off Bluetooth, go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn off Bluetooth.

Android

To turn off Bluetooth, go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth and turn off Bluetooth.

Restart the Tablet

Apple iOS

  • Press and hold the volume button and the top button until the power off slider appears. Depending on the model, you may need to press and hold the main center button at the bottom of the device and the top button instead.
  • Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off.
  • To turn your device back on, press and hold the top button until you see the Apple logo.

Android

  • Press and hold the power button until Restart option appears.
  • Press Restart

Power down all devices and restart

Power off the tablet and scale as described above. Start by powering up the Tablet and opening Vish, then connecting the scale.
